I guess I should be thankful that it's not the other way around haha.

I've been working a quite a few film projects lately. Neither of them are my own but I have been working on some scripts and the like which I'll talk more about at E[s]E.

The first picture is for school and we've been working off and on over the last few months. We have production meetings once a week and meet a few times in between. The other project is a more recent one. It's called The Push and it's written and directed by the same woman who wrote and directed a short film called "Assimilation" which I believe won 'Best Short Film' at the Santa Fe Film Festival. This is more or less her follow up to that I guess. Anyway, I'm having a lot of fun working on set. The crew is amazing. I've met a lot of really awesome people. I started working on set as a PA but have since been more or less promoted to First AC or Assistant Camera. Which on this crew means I'm just taking notes on what takes were good, what was wrong in the shot (if anything) what the actors did that was different from the other takes and other things like that. It's been a blast and I hope to keep working on more pictures (hopefully paying gigs soon haha).

That's all I've got for now, but I'll leave you with this: The most amazing picture ever created.

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 200px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_JfAqd6OPnvI/S58vndqqMnI/AAAAAAAAAJ4/_1fRRhqnQ9s/s200/Batman+%2B+Shark+%2B+Lightsaber+%3D+Glory.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5449126429166547570" />

Yes, that is Batman fighting a Shark with a Lightsaber...The Duke of Ogdenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01911052527028731245noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12724045.post-52607691300143148832010-03-08T13:36:00.004-07:002010-03-08T14:03:26.025-07:00A Potential Problem<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 158px; height: 200px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_JfAqd6OPnvI/S5Vlgd7M-HI/AAAAAAAAAJw/G4kGPpNrDi0/s200/PabloPicasso.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5446370932837644402" />
This is Pablo Picasso.

So February got skipped entirely. Not on purpose, well maybe a little bit. Pretty uneventful. I took a short trip up to Colorado to see some friends and ended up shoot a a .357 at a paper person.

Guns. Guns. Guns.

There was power in it. Too much power really. I started thinking as I was loading the bullets into the chamber just all the fucked up things I could do with this gun. I would never in a million years actually do any of the things I was thinking, mind you. But I was thinking them all the same. Like, not so much thinking about taking a step back and blowing the guys head off in the stall next to me, but what would happen if I did. The reaction of everyone there. There would be a few seconds of disbelief and shock before everyone realizes just what the fuck I did.

The shit would hit the fan at this point.

This makes me think of this one time I was at a house, working for an estate sale company up in Denver. A group of us were loading boxes and random pieces of furniture from a storage unit into the back of a moving truck. Nothing special. This was what we did. The only difference was this time I was standing at the back of the truck holding a box cutter, also nothing new, and a crazy thought came floating from the far reaches of human consciousness and into my head. What if I calmly walked up to my co-worker and friend Dylan and sliced his throat clean open? I didn't want to and I certain wasn't going to fucking do it. But the thought was about what every one else would do. I mean there were about eight people, if not more, around us. Some helping move boxes and some "supervising". I have never had an evil thought directed at Dylan, ever. And it wasn't even really about the actual act of cutting his throat. It was about doing something so completely unexpected and out of the blue. Something that no one sees coming, just to see their reaction.

Now obviously when I told Dylan about this he flipped out.

"How could you think like that?"

"What the fuck is wrong with you?"

I think the lesson here is that I should never be allowed to hold a gun or a sharp object. Why is it that these thoughts about doing something crazy only occur when I'm holding something potentially dangerous? If I knew that answer to that, I would probably not have this problem.The Duke of Ogdenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01911052527028731245noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12724045.post-74396924944311196272010-01-26T14:32:00.004-07:002010-01-26T14:47:11.553-07:00VacanciesI've been writing here for a long time now. I have posts going back several years but I don't think I ever learned what it means to share what's been going on in my life with the world. There is close to zero audience for this. A few people do read it, from time to time. Most of them are close friends that I could just call and tell them what's been going on. Why don't I? I have no fucking clue.

I think I like the immortality that comes from this. Short of a solar flare zapping the shit out of us and frying everything electronic related, this blog (grumble) will last for a long time. Potentially forever. A good ol' piece of human history. I mean I try to update as often as I remember, or when I can get to Counter Culture, internet is so damned expensive. But aside from a few shortcomings, this should last forever. There are plenty of other people out there that write about vastly more interesting things, but this is my place to voice what's mine. To solidify what goes on in my head. No one else could write what I write because I am a completely unique person. This is very empowering when you think about it.

I have no idea why I do the things that I do. Why would I waste my day sitting at home watching Batman: The Animated Series instead of going out and finding a new job? I have no fucking clue. Why would I sit at Counter Culture bitching about my life on the internet instead of thinking of how I am going to both pay for school by the end of the day tomorrow and come up with rent by the end of the week?

I have no fucking clue. But I think it might have something to do with how fucking delicious Counter Culture's blueberry muffins are.The Duke of Ogdenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01911052527028731245noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12724045.post-87047590345244817992010-01-22T12:38:00.004-07:002010-01-22T13:03:53.465-07:00Looking For Someone Else To Dream AboutLooking towards the future
We were begging for the past
Well we knew we had the good things
But those never seemed to last
Oh please just last
-"Missed the Boat" Modest Mouse

I have a few problems. But then again who doesn't right? It's just that some times these thing catch up to me all at once. It would seem that to be my fault though. I ignore them until they become real problems instead of stupid little problems. I guess it could be argued that all of these are stupid little problems when it comes down to it. Nothing matters really. Fuck the bullshit.
I've been trying to live my life in this way for a while. Fuck the bullshit. You don't need it. I don't need it. This doesn't mean ignore all the shit. It doesn't mean don't deal with it. Because you need to deal with it. We all need to deal with it. But just fuck it. Don't let it in. Don't let it effect me. This is much easier said than done. Some times we can't help letting these things effect us. Girls, for instance, are my Achilles heel. Particularly Morgan in this case. I can't help it. I think about her all the time. I dream about her all the time. All the time. I try not to. I try to move on. I can't. Maybe it's because I don't want to. I don't want someone else. I keep looking for someone else to dream about. I love dreaming about Morgan. I dream such amazing dreams when she's on my mind.

And she's always on my mind.The Duke of Ogdenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01911052527028731245noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12724045.post-49616978175396868212010-01-08T09:51:00.003-07:002010-01-08T10:00:08.112-07:00The Trooper's MarchI have been completely slacking when it comes to all things internet, again. It's all good though because I've been busting my ass painting and drawing and writing. I just yesterday finished an amazing painting on the wall of my room. Using a projector and some acrylic paint. I made a storm trooper helmet. It kicks a lot of ass basically and I'm proud as a pig in shit to have made this. It's a lot like the one a bunch of us made in our living room only it's a lot smaller and I did it myself (it would have been way too cramped for someone to have helped me). I snapped off some pictures for the convenience of the internet and stuff so enjoy.

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_JfAqd6OPnvI/S0dkbPT64dI/AAAAAAAAAJo/jWa7NEwV2JU/s200/P1080046.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5424414695320379858" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_JfAqd6OPnvI/S0dkaS9KTUI/AAAAAAAAAJg/bnCRFdSljH4/s200/P1080045.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5424414679118794050" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_JfAqd6OPnvI/S0dkaIIevuI/AAAAAAAAAJY/0XdIc0Z9JwM/s200/P1080044.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5424414676213481186" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_JfAqd6OPnvI/S0dkZ7AfO2I/AAAAAAAAAJQ/83U7-ZsoBdc/s200/P1080043.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5424414672690297698" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_JfAqd6OPnvI/S0dkZfcuE3I/AAAAAAAAAJI/pAqzsxjCy2w/s200/P1080042.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5424414665292518258" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_JfAqd6OPnvI/S0dkFqyPINI/AAAAAAAAAJA/CaXUmUWbXXM/s200/P1080040.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5424414324738171090" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_JfAqd6OPnvI/S0dkFUtJt2I/AAAAAAAAAI4/vCYyXAvK_bQ/s200/P1080037.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5424414318811264866" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_JfAqd6OPnvI/S0dkFLMgFWI/AAAAAAAAAIw/NtdaTKNqXzY/s200/P1080038.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5424414316258399586" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_JfAqd6OPnvI/S0dkE4TaaOI/AAAAAAAAAIo/kg56vM_ym3k/s200/P1080041.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5424414311187114210" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_JfAqd6OPnvI/S0dkEpG-TjI/AAAAAAAAAIg/HzGUtqWNc1k/s200/P1080039.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5424414307108408882" />The Duke of Ogdenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01911052527028731245noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12724045.post-70444644475788802122009-12-14T13:02:00.002-07:002009-12-14T13:05:36.662-07:00Yeah, Some DayI haven't been very current with things having to do with the internet. It's not like I don't care, because I do, I'm just so damn lazy and unmotivated to post something. I think about the process of having to go to the website and type out a bunch of stuff from my head and post it for no one to read. I guess you could say it's a way for me to vent and get that shit out there for the collective to consume. Some day it will be worth while. Yeah some day.The Duke of Ogdenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01911052527028731245noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12724045.post-41995689485275029042009-11-18T17:44:00.003-07:002009-11-18T17:48:17.285-07:00TodayToday is a good day ladies and gentlemen. Not to say that I've forgotten like I have in the past, I've just been too busy to do anything internet related recently. School has been taking up a huge chunk of my time, we just wrapped a music video for Stephanie Hatfield and Hot Mess. Which was a lot of fun. They are in the process of editing the video now so it should be done some time before the new year, but don't hold me to that, I have no idea how long it will take to do that.

I also thought I should share something that I found a while back and had forgotten. These people make chalk street art using shadows from light poles and other things. Shadow Street Art.

Have a good week.The Duke of Ogdenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01911052527028731245noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12724045.post-7054588721258038922009-10-02T12:26:00.002-06:002009-10-02T12:46:25.573-06:00If This Was ThatIf only this world were that much sweeter. People are running away from everything. I am not excluded in this. But as long as I have a level enough head and a way to keep things from completely blowing up around me, I should be OK. At least until tomorrow. But tomorrow is a whole different story. It's all I can do to make to tomorrow. Today is important, yes? Of course it is. One being that I need one eventually because playing a GTA game on my Xbox was painful enough as it is and FFXIII is coming out next year and I flat out refuse to play a Final Fantasy game on an Xbox. Reason number two, my fucking Xbox died again. I'm starting to think they did that shit on purpose so you'd have to keep buying them. Fucking Microsoft bastards.
Speaking of bastards. A couple friends and I went recently to see a showing of Inglourious Basterds at our local movie mega-plex. I for one loved it. Now I can't really say the same for my viewing mates, unlike myself, they had built it up too much in their heads. While I wanted it to be good, and I really wanted it to be good, somewhere in the back of my mind floating around I was thinking, "He's washed up, his movies will never be as good as Pulp Fiction." And this most definitely still holds true for me. But Inglourious Basterds was a masterpiece. A shining example in theses dark cinematic times we are living in. This movie shows what is possible when the writer/director stops giving a shit about all the usual movie-industry bull shit and just makes the movie they want to make. I respect Tarantino for that more than he will ever know. This movie was not as good as Pulp Fiction, but then again very few things are, however it is his second best movie hands down. The tension he builds in the opening scene was almost unbearable, a good thing. And the Mexican stand off in the bar was ridiculously amazing. Basically, I enjoyed the hell out of every moment in this movie. I highly recommend it to everyone and I can't wait for it to come out on DVD so I can watch it over and over and over again like I already do with his other films.
Great flick man, I salute you.The Duke of Ogdenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01911052527028731245noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12724045.post-58028652265703649152009-08-30T10:05:00.003-06:002009-08-30T10:16:14.626-06:00It's Always Sunny at SFCCSo I started going to school about a week ago. They have a pretty spectacular film program at SFCC. Pretty cheap too. It cuts back on the number of hours I can work at Borders, but I'm not one to complain about that sort of thing. Borders blows. On the other hand, this program I am attending does not blow. And I am a very big fan of things that do not blow.

There are quite a few productions rolling through town here pretty soon. I am hoping to get on as a PA on something. Anything really. I'll do charlie work all day as opposed to working another fucking day at Borders.

More as this developesThe Duke of Ogdenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01911052527028731245noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12724045.post-66604573608259728712009-01-02T01:01:00.000-07:002009-01-02T01:02:20.631-07:00R.I.P. I'm fucking PUMPED for thanksgiving though. Thanksgiving is one of the greatest holidays invented by anyone, anywhere. I don't just love it because I get to eat some of my favorite food ever, but I get drunk for no reason and yell at the TV with my grandpa. That's always good.The Duke of Ogdenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01911052527028731245noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12724045.post-68308989269527283292008-11-22T01:16:00.008-07:002008-11-22T02:24:26.579-07:00A Devil Dressed in BlueI haven't posted in a while, about a week, and I'm sorry. It's not like I've been too busy, although I did get a job, I just haven't. No real reason. I guess it's because I just haven't had anything to say. Just boredom.
That being said, what the fuck is this? The Japanese are a different kind of weird.
I'm going to go on record right now and say the Japanese might very well be the most unique country in the world. Only the Japanese would combine two ideas into one like this. I give you Cup Nude.

Doesn't look like much now but there is more.

So far so good. There is this lovely image on the side. Not only does this make me want to eat ramen but it brings all kinds of thoughts to mind like, why do I still live in America?

Then everything changes when you open it.
...um
What is that? Can you eat it? Will it get mad if I try? What the fuck is it made of?

Lucky for us there is an easy to follow diagram on the side detailing exactly what we're in store for. It's this kind of thinking Americans need to start getting behind. Seriously, Cup Nude. Amazing.

Also, this.

And, this.

I think this young lady has something important to say.

The Japanese are truly at the forefront of modern enlightenment.The Duke of Ogdenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01911052527028731245noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12724045.post-81462840108934893662008-11-12T14:16:00.004-07:002008-11-13T13:57:47.369-07:00Oh Bahamut!
